Ghostly Messenger Movies

I really like horror thrillers that have a ghost trying to relay a message to the living.  You can redo this story line a million times and its always different and can be a unique story.  I am going to share some of these types movies, most of which I will list where to watch them online free.  I will link them if they are available for viewing.

Stir of Echoes (1999) - After being hypnotized by his sister in law, a man begins seeing haunting visions of a girl's ghost and a mystery begins to unfold around her.  This one is one of my favorites.  Its freaky and the story is good.  It ends up surfacing at the very end and you have no idea what's up for a long time!  I love this movie so much.  Its sick and twisted, but you will love it, too!  I have a mild crush on Kevin Bacon, especially in this film, where he doesn't wear a shirt that much.  He has to dig!

What Lies Beneath (2000) - This supernatural thriller, directed by Robert Zemeckis, stars Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer as a seemingly ordinary couple who experience a strange haunting that uncovers dark and deeply hidden secrets.  The haunting is effecting the wife and she feels like she's going crazy.  I really liked this one.  It was unique and startling.

The Devil's Backbone (2001) - Little Carlos, a boy of 12, arrives at a boy's home subsequent to his father's death in the Spanish Civil War.  He realizes the orphanage is haunted and has hidden secrets a ghost prompts him to find out.  The tone in this film creeps me out and its truly chilling.  I highly recommend this one.  You will either love or hate it, though.

The Orphanage (2007) - A woman brings her family back to the orphanage for the disabled, where consequently, she grew up.  Her son begins to speak with a new imaginary friend.  This one is really spooky and builds a great story while you figure out what's going on along with the protagonist.

Shutter (2008) - Happy newlyweds keep capturing ghostly images in pictures after an accident. They believe the incidents might be related to the tragedy so they look into it and find out what the secret really is!  You will be pissed at one of the characters in the movie.

The Others (2001) - A woman, who lives in a creepy, purposely dark house with her children who have a condition that makes them hypersensitive to sunlight.  She feels her home may be haunted and can't leave, because her kids can't go outside.  This one is good and you won't know what's going on up until the very end.  Its got a very well developed story line.

Stigmata (1999) - This is a weird one that I really loved, because its unique.  Its got elements of haunting, The Stigmata, and possession.

A priest from the Vatican (Gabriel Byrne), who I have a mild older man-crush on, is dispatched to Brazil (Sao Paulo) to investigate the manifestation of the face of the Virgin Mary on a building. While he's visiting on his charge from the church, he discovers a statue of The Virgin that bleeds tears bleeding tears in a small town outside of the city.

Simultaneously, a woman in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania begins to manifest the wounds of Christ's crucifixion (Stigmata).  The Vatican Investigator helps and cares for her, while investigating her affliction.  She may, in fact, be inhabited by a ghost, in whom the Father is quite familiar.

Gary Cecil - Buried Secrets - Book For Under a Buck!

Gary Cecil's Buried Secrets - Max and his wife, Megan, just moved into their new home. It's a charming Victorian, that did not come with the typical Victorian price tag. Sure, it needs some paint thrown on here and there, but soon--with a baby on the way--it will be the perfect home for their family.

Things quickly begin to change, though. They hear noises at night, and even feel things crawling in their sheets. But that's not the worst of it. There's a foul smell in the air sometimes, and something even fouler in the basement.

When the power goes out, Max goes into the basement to find the breaker, and what he finds, is something much worse.

Can the young couple survive this horrible fate?   Or... are some secrets just too damned evil to be kept buried.

BURIED SECRETS will keep you wondering to the very last page. At approximately 2,800 words, this spine-tingling horror tale is guaranteed to make you laugh and squirm, as the young couple move into their house, only to realize... they're not alone.
