The Dybbuk Box - Paranormal Witness

You can check out Paranormal Witness' Episode on the Dybbuk Box (a Jewish wine box) by clicking here.  The wine box is said to contain a negative (demonic) spirit within.  I believe Kevin Mannis' story was the story on which the movie The Possession received its basis. I didn't make a spelling error.  There is more than one way to spell dybbuk.

Via Wikipedia:

The term "Dibbuk Box" was first created and used by Kevin Mannis to describe a wine cabinet in the item information for an eBay auction and as the subject of his original story describing paranormal events which he related to the box. Mannis, a writer and creative professional by trade, owned a small antiques and furniture refinishing business in Portland, Oregon at the time. According to Mannis' story, he bought the box at an estate sale in 2003. It had belonged to a Polish Holocaust survivor named Havela, who had escaped to Spain and purchased it there before her immigration to the United States.

Havela's granddaughter told Mannis that the box had been bought in Spain after the Holocaust. Upon hearing that the box was a family heirloom, Mannis offered to give the box back to the family but the granddaughter insisted that he take it. "We don't want it." She said. She told him the box had been kept in her grandmother's sewing room and was never opened because a dybbuk was said to live inside it.

Upon opening the box, Mannis wrote that he found that it contained two 1920s pennies, a lock of blonde hair bound with cord, a lock of black/brown hair bound with cord, a small statue engraved with the Hebrew word "Shalom", a small, golden wine goblet, one dried rose bud, and a single candle holder with four octopus-shaped legs.
Numerous owners of the box have reported that strange phenomena accompany it.

In his story, Mannis wrote that he experienced a series of horrific nightmares shared with other people while they were in possession of the box or when they stayed at his home while he had it. His mother suffered a stroke on the same day he gave her the box as a birthday present — October 28. Every owner of the box has reported that smells of cat urine or jasmine flowers and nightmares involving an old hag accompany the box.

Iosif Neitzke, a Missouri student at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri and the last person to auction the box on eBay, claimed that the box caused lights to burn out in his house and his hair to fall out.  Jason Haxton, Director of the Museum of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri, had been following Neitzke's blogs regarding the box and when he was ready to be rid of the box Neitzke sold it to Haxton.

Haxton wrote The Dibbuk Box, and claimed that he subsequently developed strange health problems, including hives, coughing up blood, and "head-to-toe welts". Haxton consulted with Rabbis (Jewish religious leaders) to try to figure out a way to seal the dybbuk in the box again. Apparently successful, he took the freshly resealed box and hid it at a secret location, which he will not reveal.

Skeptic Chris French, head of the Anomalistic Psychology Research Unit at Goldsmiths' College, told an interviewer he believed that the box's owners were "already primed to be looking out for bad stuff. If you believe you have been cursed, then inevitably you explain the bad stuff that happens in terms of what you perceive to be the cause. Put it like this: I would be happy to own this object."

Coolest Gore Scenes In Recent Memory

Although its not a horror movie, Kill Bill Vol. 1 has some decent gory scenes of note.

1. Kill Bill Vol. 1 - When Beatrix chops off O-Ren Ishii’s top of her head, exposing her brains with the Hattori Hanso sword in the final scent when its all pretty and snowing.  The water clock in the background is oh so very soothing.

Also, when O-Ren Ishii, who is pretty badass, cuts Tanaka's head off and blood squirts everywhere as well as when Beatrix chops off the chick who looks like Beautiful Gorgeous from Jimmy’s Neutron’s (Sophie Fatale) arm off and it continues to spurt blood for a good fifteen minutes at the very least.

 2. The Possession - I would like to rewind it over and over when the little girl sticks a fork in her dad’s hand!

3. Cursed - When the chick in the car accident, you know the same chick (Shannon Elizabeth) that makes Jim in American pie jizz in his pants (the exchange student), rolls down the hill after being torn in half by by a werewolf, a torso, head, and arms only!  I can't find a clip so I am pissed!

4. Cube - When Alderson is cut neatly into cubes in the opening scene, I couldn't have "julienned" him better myself!  Where do I get one of those so I can defeat my enemies, I mean, cook some freshly prepared homefries for my loved ones in the early hours of the morning...

5.  The neatly julienned Alderson is quite reminiscent  of a true classic, a kickass gory scene, how Pinhead becomes Pinhead in Hellraiser, one of my faves!

It doesn't take much to please me.  A little human sacrifice and I'm good as gold like an Aztec Goddess.

Bio Channel - My Haunted House & SyFy Paranormal Witness

I'm such a ghost-hunter fan, but only when shows come on TV that aren't BS and aren't shot in that stupid green infrared cam that looks like you are lurking around in Buffalo Bill's basement, say, you about a size 14?

I've always had a problem with Buffalo Bill, you know since my answer to that question would be um, crap, yeah, I am, can ya not kill me please, and I'm wicked weak and out of shape, so no, I can't help you out with that couch.

You'd probably have a better chance with broken bones.  I'll probably just drop it on your leg so you can have a broken arm and a broken leg.  Fat chance, Buffalo Bill, I will not be part of your lady suit, mo fo!!!

But, anyway, since Bill is dead and I assure you, I cannot smell any of you, not even the type of cream you are wearing....even so, he's not real anyway, I digress....

Did we see the episode of My Ghost Story with the nurse and the catatonic patient?  Its called, "Trapped".  That scared the ever living bejesus out of me...

Its on the Bio Channel at 9 pm Eastern & 8 pm Central on Saturday nights when you guys are probably out having fun and I'm at home watching ghost-related shows.  I no longer have a boyfriend who can chill with me in bed and watch those shows, oh wait, my last bf didn't watch those shows anyway.  No, he's not dead, but I wish he was!  Just kidding...anyway, yeah...so...I tried to find a clip on the Bio website, but it told me f**k no, you can't have one.  Yes, websites speak to me, they do!  They told me you can watch it at this link since I could not actually post the freaking video here.  "They" told me!!!!

It'd also be groovy if the website told us when its on, but you know what, it doesn't.

Ok, well, DailyMotion, however, does have the entire episode.  I love you DailyMotion.  Good looking out! But damn you for making me sign up for your affiliate thing so I could post this, so I will just post the link since I'm sure you guys don't feel like waiting until I someday get approved, efffffff!!!!!

Here it is, at long last, for the love of god, really?

Now, on to other matters...Paranormal Witness...

Yes, so new episodes on Wednesday 9 Eastern, 8 Central, do we have a date with SyFy???  Good...

Its Season 3, apparently, and although this is still one of the better paranormal shows, the stories aren't as super as they used to be, but they all can't be A Haunting, can they?  I miss that show!!!!

Season 2 was the best season with the Dybbuk box and stuff.  I wonder if that movie the Possession is based on that guy's story????

You can watch that one here, which is like the best one ever!

The dybbuk box, by the way, is for sale on eBay, I'm good, I don't want it!  The real one from the show was for sale on eBay, but I don't think this is actually it, which means some a-hole bought it.  Good luck, pal!  Watch the episode and you will get it.  They actually say it was for sale on eBay on the episode, wow!!!  MMMM, yeah, I'm good, or was it the movie, I don't know, something like that.

The Possession

I was hopeful and I can't say The Possession totally delivered, but it was a decent flick with a completely different spin on peeps being possessed.  I also can't say I am an eternal optimist.  I'm quite the pessimist, so did you really think I would have anything that good to say!?  I gotta tell ya when the little girl sticks the fork in her father's hand, I was kinda sold right there.  I'm pretty sure, however, I saw an episode of Paranormal Witness when the story was exactly the same, from which The Possession clearly stemmed, but I am just speculating.  I definitely will steer clear of purchasing wooden boxes with crafty etching at family yard and estate sales of my Jewish neighbors and friends.  Creepy!  I guess that would really suck if my kid was obsessed with a creepy wooden box with mirrors in it and shiz.  I would not be psyched so...yeah, its definitely worth renting, because you might jump a couple of times and its very original.

I am disappointed with A Hunting in Connecticut 2.  I watched the cheesy preview and I have no desire to see it.  However, I did like A Haunting in Georgia when it aired on A Haunting and its unfortunate that they had to ruin the integrity of a perfectly good tale and make it really suck!  Boo!  Oh, and Comcast is charging $6.99 to watch this piece of garbage.  Really?

You can rent it for $3.99 on YouTube, but its not available on Amazon or Netflix as of yet.
