12th Night Til Halloween - Femme Fatales - Costuming Tips & Free Movies!

I am going to post some psycho women movies as well as some brilliant costume ideas so you can become an evil femme fatale.  You know how I feel about serial killers?  I am going to post some of my favorite costuming ideas for the ladies, yup, for the ladies!!!

I have picked two femme fatale costuming ideas so you can look both pretty and psycho.  I have chosen period ensembles, because its fun to dress as characters from a different era.  Of course, these two historical serial killing chicks really existed.

Belle Gunness - Belle lived in the late 1800's to early 1900's.    I've seen a couple of photos of her and she dressed as a plain women of the day.  She was a woman in her 40's during her murder spree and was well-dressed.  You can "sexyfy" her if you like, but either way, dressing up as Belle is fun!

A movie about her is in the works, but it appears that its still being made and has been in the works since 2012 since their Kickstarter campaign, in which it appears that they made in excess of $8,000 in support for this film to be created.  I can't wait!

Belle Gunness (November 11, 1859 – April 28, 1908) was a Norwegian-American serial killer, who resided on a large farm in La Porte, Illinois.  She killed most of her suitors and boyfriends, and her two adopted children, Myrtle and Lucy. She may also have killed both of her husbands and all of her children, on different occasions. Her apparent motives involved collecting life insurance, cash and other valuables, and eliminating witnesses. Reports estimate that she killed between 25 and 40 people over several decades.

Countess Elizabeth Bathory (The Blood Countess) - The Countess was pretty, wealthy, and psycho.  She liked torture, bathing in women's blood, and was a mean, nasty femme fatale, but hey, she was well dressed, so why the hell not wear her in horror cos-play or on Halloween.  Hell, pass out candy as this chick!

To pull off Belle's look, you need a bustle skirt or a long fluffy Victorian skirt or a Victorian styled-dress that a woman in her late thirties to early forties in her class would have worn.  She didn't appear to wear make-up or anything other than Victorian-American dress and a bun on top of her head.

Here are some fabulous finds.  I don't want to post anything too pricy so I won't.  Keep in mind, you can look up lots of these types of period dress online for tutorials so you can make them, but they are cheap enough for most of us to buy (shortcut)!!!

To pull off Elizabeth Bathory, it might be a little easier to find traditional medieval or renaissance period attire so you can look like royalty.  She wore her hair up in a bun-like hairstyle, too, so that's not to difficult.  She appears to have a dark blonde to light brown hair color.  I'll link you to some pre-made costumes below.  It would be very difficult to make a costume for her.

Candy Apple Costumes has a really pretty costume for The Blood Countess or like characters for just under $60.  They come in plus sizes and are around the same price for the larger costumes.

Murderous Mothers

Happy Mother's Day and you know the Queen of Pessimism, Ms. Amy Elizabeth Russell, spinstress like Lizzy Borden, except I'm not a childless spinstress, also affectionately known as Buttercup, I, of course, wow, there are many commas in this sentence, am going to blog about murderous moms, yay!

Clara Harris - Poor Clara's doosh bag husband, the good dentist started cheating on her with his younger secretary. Clara took her revenge afetr finding them together rendezvousing at a hotel.
After she whooped this b*tch's ho azz, her husband stuck up for the mistress so Clara, with her husband's daughter (her stepdaughter) in tow ran that mo fo over with her car. Ummm, evil, naw, smart! I hope when she got out of jail she got the lot!
You can check out Clara's story of bloody satisfaction here...

A movie is in the works to document the life and deeds of black widow, Belle Gunness.
Check it out here
Ms. Belle Gunness - Belle lived during the latter 17th century. She emigrated to the United States to Chicago, Illinois from Norway. When her first husband um, "died", she and her foster kids moved to a farm in La Porte, Indiana.
Belle started putting out personal ads in Scandinavian newspapers. She offered the takers a partnership on her farm. She only asked for a little bit of money when they sold everything they owned. Nobody saw these guys again, hummm...
Her foster children were burned up on the farm that burned to the ground. Bones and remains of many men were found on her farm, but Belle was in the fire and was never heard from again. She was spotted in the United States after the fire and her remains didn't appear to match her proportions and parts were "missing".

Stella Nickell - Does anyone remember the 1982 Tylenol Murders?  Well, did you know that the Tylenol murders were a ploy for Stella Nickell to kill her husband and get away with it, while still securing his insurance policies?  Actually, it wasn't Tylenol either, it was actually Excedrin.  Tylenol stopped making non-gel caps as a result of this case, though.  The Tylenol murders was actually a different case long before the 1980's, but the rumor was often about tainted Tylenol capsules.

It gave her an alibi for her husband's death since all who purchased the tainted capsules at the local drugstore would also die and Stella would get her husband, Bruce's insurance policy scot free due to the "accident".

Stella was subsequently sentenced to 90 years in prison for product tampering after she poisoned Excedrin capsules with cyanide, resulting in the deaths of her husband and a random lady, Sue Snow, who just happened to buy tainted capsules at her local druggist. Both Stella and Sue were moms.  Stella's conviction was the first under federal product tampering laws instituted after the Chicago Tylenol Murders.  That case is still unsolved.

Check out Stella Nickell's chilling story here.

NH Serial Killer History, Everyone!

We do have a few famous people from New Hampshire, originally. No, I'm not kidding. I'm not one of them, but hey, I'm not famous, either. I'm also not a serial killer so I don't fit into either of the categories so yeah, who cares. Anyway, Steven Tyler is originally from NH along with G.G. Allen.

Are they serial killers, no, but guess who is...

H.H. Holmes - not to be confused with John Holmes, star of adult cinema and owner of a 14 inch wonder...but sort of like the North American Jack The Ripper, but not as r*pey, not r*apey at all and he was equal opportunity, you didn't have to be a chick or a hooker, either, but then again you could be.  You didn't even have to be an adult. He was born in Gilmanton, NH and became a doctor so he could learn how to kill people better.  He wasn't a bad looking guy and you would never know!  Does he look like a mass murderer to you?  He's not even close to as cold and scary looking as the next case I will discuss below, Ms. Sheila Labarre.  His story can be viewed on Hulu.com for free here.

Sheila Labarre - No, not the groupie, that's Pamela Des Barres...the serial killer..from Epping, NH, hummm, that's about a half an hour or so from here, not far from the Massachusetts border, where I am originally from. She got caught by a tip that was followed up on by a MA State Trooper in the next town over from where I was born and grew up, actually, Revere.

Sheila hooked up with an older, well off man, who became her common law husband from which her last name is derived, who lived on the million dollar farm, where she lived in 2000, who died under suspicious circumstances.

It doesn't look like a million dollar farm to me, but whatever...

Often it was observed that after his death, many men lived on her farm and were always beaten up and bruised looking, even bloody sometimes. She was said to be flirtatious, but could turn violent pretty quickly. She had a few mentally disabled and/or disadvantaged unfortunates with nowhere to go living on her farm, all of which were found dead, well, their remains and clothing, anyway in burn pits on the property, which the police in NH searched after a tip for the MA State Police was offered to them.

Two of these men who lived on her farm disappeared. Sheila claims they were all pedophiles. She pretty much claimed that most men she encountered were pedophiles. One of the men she killed was an 24 year old man with Autism who had barely the mental capacity of a 12 year old child. She was said to have beaten him to death with gardening shears.

She confessed to two of the murders, but claimed insanity, claiming she was not mentally sane at the time. Sheila's farm was recently auctioned off. I wouldn't wanna live there! You better heavilyy sage burn that b*tch if you wanna live there!

She's got very cold eyes and creeps me out.  She just doesn't look "right".   No, not because she is from Alabama and relocated to NH, but she is just scary!

Did you feel like that started off like Adam Sandler's Hanukkah Song? Guess what, he's from New Hampshire, too! Why do you think he's always making for of the New England, especially Boston accent, which we pretty much have here in NH and Maine, too, just less exaggerated.

You can check out the documentary, Sheila Labarre's House of Horrors here.
