A thunderstorm strands several people in the English countryside. A little girl, Judy, with her crappy father and her mean, ugly stepmother, with a hideous mole on her head wearing an equally ugly head wrap, and a nice, well-mannered guy named Ralph who picks up two hitchhikers, two punk chicks. Note, Isabel will look familiar. That's because she is the chick from the A-ha - Take on Me Video, Bunty Bailey, weird!

Anyway, the closest house is a sprawling mansion where Gabriel and Hilary, a cute little elderly couple live. Gabriel is a toy maker. The guests are attacked by dolls if they are mean, ugly-hearted people.

Troll - This is What Death Looks Like!

1986 was a good year for horror!  Along with some super kick-ass classics, Troll was among them.  My favorite scene in Troll was when the "Troll" shows Wendy's (the little girl) neighbor (Duke) what death looks like!

Interestingly enough, this tale involves the Potter family. Guess what Wendy Potter's big brother's name is? Yeah, that's right, Harry. Her daddy is also Harry Potter, Sr., that is. I never remembered that!

Malcom and "The Troll" are both portrayed by Phil Fondacaro, who is both a good guy and a bad guy in this flick as he and the troll are two different peeps! I also never remembered Julia Louis-Dreyfus being in this classic way prior to Seinfeld!

I love the little mushroom plant that sounds like a baby and has cute little eyes and hums and sings little songs owned by the little girl's old lady neighbor (a powerful witch, apparently).  I kinda want one!  It looks just like the pretty little old lady who owns it.  She's a witch and I love her.  I want her to be my Grammy!

The "Troll Song" is wicked good.

Troll Sypnosis via IMDb - An evil troll, Torok, the transformed state of the ex-husband of an old friendly witch named Eunice St. Clair (she's nice and she's pretty and a good little witch), has chosen her apartment building to be the heart of the restoration of the world he once knew. To do this, he utilizes an emerald ring and takes possession of a little girl named Wendy, whose brother Harry immediately suspects something is very wrong. Torok, often taking over little Wendy Potter's body visit's each neighbor's apartment, transforming people into grotesque little plant pods.

I wish I could offer a free link to watch this classic flick on YouTube or something, but there isn't one, which upsets me gravely.  I can, however, show you where to find Troll & Troll 2 together or just Troll 1 on DVD, VHS & Blu-Ray, but its really super difficult to find!

Live Appendectomy, Yum!

 Last Saturday I spent the morning having my appendix removed.  Yeah, looking for something to do on a Friday night, break your appendix and then film it.  I was supposed to go out and have fun, but that was not to be.  My belly button and abdomen was violated with cool metal surgical instruments.  :(

Scars are sexy, right?  I have like three of them.  They are all so little that you won't notice them next month, though.  Oh well, I always thought scars were sexy, but not surgical ones.

Mmmm, why was I not awake for this thing.  I mean, being knocked out is nice and all, and the hospital is like a vacation with lots of morphine dreams, but yeah....I made lots of morphine and delaudid induced phone calls and texts of love to everyone I know, some at 3 am while I was waiting for surgery.  I  hope nobody is offended or feels too loved.

I asked if I could see it when I woke up, but that was a negative.  I do have a photograph, which I will have to scan later.  Fat inside the body is yellow and very unattractive.  It looks like the end of a cheap slab of meat, yum!

I missed an effing date for this, damn...I thought scars were sexy.  Well, at least I got something inside me that morning.  In fact, a whole surgical team was deep inside me.

I won't say what that little appendix thing looks like!  

It also sort of looks like an aborted chicken.  

Don't Be Afraid of The Dark

I just watched Don't Be Afraid of The Dark, soooo good!  The premise sounded silly, but there are "creatures" living in an old mansion where a girl lives with her step-mother and her dad.  The girl is shipped to dad and the step-mother she never met and is terrified by "things going bump in the night" at the house.

This is the epitome of childhood terror, and you should soooo watch it!

Ralph and Judy are the only nice, pure of heart people in the whole story, besides the old couple. Every one else is an a-hole.

The dolls are sinister, they kill, and yeah, there is a whole plot going on here, but the sheer 1987 feel is reason enough to watch. Go 80's!!!!

Bunty actually dated the A-ha singer, Morten Harket, lucky duck. I still get all fluttery when I hear that song, even though I can't understand a word they are saying for half the song. I had such a six or seven year old crush on him!

Return of the Living Dead

Filmed in 1985, this is my favorite zombie movie!  A band of 80's New Wave, Punks, and Rudie kids stumble onto some trouble.  You see, they are waiting for their friend to get off work at a supply company, where there is an Army zombie gas spill.  The men who work for Uneeda Supply Company (a medical supply company with lots of dead things warehoused within) try to take care of the problem at the local crematorium, where Uneeda's owner knows Ernie, a friend of 25 years, who he asks for a favor.  They should have left it alone!
