The Purge - In a futuristic America plagued by crime, the government sanctions a 12-hour period once a year in which all criminal activity is legal. When an intruder breaks into the home of James Sandin and his family, they must try to survive the night without compromising their personal moral code.
The Conjuring - Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star as Ed and Lorraine Warren who were American paranormal investigators and authors associated with prominent cases of haunting. Their reports inspired the Amityville Horror. The Warrens come to the assistance of the Perron family, who are experiencing increasingly disturbing events in their farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island in 1971.
American Horror Story - Season 2 (Asylum) - takes place in 1964 and is the story of the patients, doctors, and medical professionals (clergy) who reside and work at Briarcliff Mental Institution, a facility created to house and "treat" the criminally insane, which is run partially by the Catholic Church. Those who operate the establishment are Sister Jude (Jessica Lange), Sister Mary Eunice (Lily Rabe), and Monsignor Timothy Howard (Joseph Fiennes). Their are two doctors at the facility, their psychiatrist, Dr. Oliver Thredson (Zachary Quinto) and the mad scientist doctor, Dr. Arthur Arden (James Cromwell).
The patients, many of whom claim to be unjustly institutionalized, include lesbian journalist Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson), accused serial killer Kit Walker (Evan Peters), and alleged murderer Grace Bertrand (Lizzie Brocheré). Briarcliff's patient are subjected to supernatural and sick scientific experiments that include demonic possession and extraterrestrial abduction.
