The Serpent and the Rainbow

I was just looking through YouTube and reading some horror blogs and I had almost forgot about The Serpent and the Rainbow and never mentioned it!  The is one of the scariest films I have ever seen from a psychological standpoint.

Back in the 80's, how "not done" was Voodoo?  That flick was probably my first introduction to Voodoo from a position of fear.  I had never really given it much thought.  This film opened the door for films like The Skeleton Key and shows like American Horror Story - Coven.

How cool is this flick?  If you haven't seen it, you should!  Don't laugh, Bill Pullman is awesome.  I can't think of a movie he's done that sucked or at least that he didn't suck in.

Thinking about being enclosed in a coffin and being unable to move, because you got "zombie powder" blown in your face and you inhaled it, yeah, terrifying thought!

You can check out the trailer here if you haven't seen it.  If you weren't alive or were wicked little (I wasn't wicked little.) prior to 1988, that may be the case.  That's when it came out, scary!!!  Its also based on a true story, written by Wade Davis, the main character played in the movie by Bill Pullman in its Wes Craven movie adaptation.

The actual book is shown below.

You can rent the movie for $2.99.
